The latest version of MSN Messenger (6.2) allows users to automatically scan all file transfers with an anti-virus program of their choice. Furthermore, users transferring a file through messenger is safer because we've added an extra step before that file can be opened.

To enable the automatic virus scans in MSN Messenger 6.2:

  1. Open Messenger, click Tools and then Options.
  2. Select the Messages tab.
  3. Under File Transfer, place a tick in the Scan files for viruses box.
  4. Click Browse.
  5. Locate your anti-virus program from the list of program files presented.
