If you are seeing an error message stating that MSN Messenger was unable to connect to the SOCKS proxy server, please follow the instructions below:

1. In the Messenger main window, click the Tools menu, then click Options.
2. Click the Connection tab.
3. If the I use a proxy server box is ticked, click it once to remove the tick. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
