You can add a person to your contact list if you know their e-mail address. Each of your Windows Live Messenger contacts must have a Windows Live-enabled e-mail address and Windows Live Messenger installed in order for you to exchange instant messages. If the person doesn't have a Windows Live-enabled e-mail account or Windows Live Messenger yet, you can authorise the Messenger service to send them an e-mail message that tells them exactly what to do to get set up.
To add a contact simply click the
