HotmailÒ support: Sign up for a new HotmailÒ address

Hotmail is the world's largest provider of free* Web-based e-mail. You can sign up for a new Hotmail address in the following way:



1. Go to the Hotmail home page:    http://www.hotmail.com

2. Click the Sign Up button on the Hotmail home page.    

3. Select the type of account that you wish to register for. The choices are Free (free of charge), Hotmail Plus ($37.95 per annum) or ninemsn Premium ($12.95 per month).    

4. Fill in the requested information on the following two registration pages, including your name, date of birth and county. There is a Continue button at the bottom of each of the registration pages - please click this button to continue.    

   

5. Read the MSN Service Agreement and the MSN Privacy Statement, then enter your new e-mail address and click the Accept button to accept the agreement and privacy statement and continue registering your e-mail account.    

6. A confirmation message will appear, advising you that your new Hotmail account has been set up successfully. Please click the Continue button to continue.    

7. You will now be presented with two pages of newsletter subscriptions. These subscriptions are free, but if you don't wish to subscribe to any newsletters simply click the Continue button at the bottom of the screen.

Costs associated with using HotmailÒ
*Hotmail is a free e-mail service, but there are generally costs associated in accessing the Internet.

  • Your Internet service provider will charge you for connecting to the Internet and your phone company will charge you the cost of a telephone call to connect to your Internet provider.
  • If you access the Internet at a cafe you will only be charged for the duration of your Internet connection (generally per hour).
  • Sometimes computer and Internet use at public libraries is free.

Hotmail will not charge you to access your inbox, read or send e-mails. This is one of the main advantages of having a Hotmail e-mail account.
