Hotmail also has two types of custom filter, basic and advanced:
To set up Custom Filters for incoming messages:
Sign in to Hotmail and click Options.
On the left-hand column, select Mail.
From the list presented select Custom Filters.
Click New Filter and decide which of the two types of filter you wish to use (the options 'Advanced Filter' or 'Basic Filter' can be clicked top-right of the central panel onscreen).
Remove e-mails by keyword, address or subject and have them delivered to a folder of your choice.
If you are being bombarded with a specific e-mail — for example about hair loss — use the filter to send any e-mail containing those words in the header straight into the Trash Can.
