MSN Internet access: Read your MSN mail in Outlook Express
How to read your MSN email using an alternative connection.
The following instructions explain how to configure your Outlook Express to use an alternative Internet connection to download your MSN email. This is to be used by international MSN members from the USA, UK and Japan.
Note You will need to gain access to an alternative Internet connection. This may be supplied by an Internet Service Provider, friend's computer, workplace or public computer.
Open Outlook Express, then complete the following steps.
Select the Mail tab, then click Add, click Mail.
Complete the following registration wizard:
Display name = your name or MSN account name.
Email address = your MSN email address (eg, firstname.lastname@example.org).
Server type = POP3.
Set Outgoing mail (SMTP) = SMTP.EMAIL.MSN.COM
Set Incoming mail(POP3) = your MSN account, "POP3.EMAIL.MSN.COM".
Account name = your MSN account logon.
Password = your MSN password.
NOTE Make sure the Log on using Secure Password Authentication check box is selected.
You should be back in the account area. Select the new account you just created, then click the Properties button on the right-hand side.
Select the Advanced tab on the far right.
Make sure you select "Leave a copy of the messages on the server". This will enable you to read your email when you go back overseas.
Click OK and exit the account area.
All you need to do to start downloading your email is select Send/Receive.
